What can I say, this pedal is fantastic. I decided to buy it after reading multiple reviews where people have raved about it, and having tried out the old version and loving it I decided to stump up the money for one of my own. It's suprisingly heavy for it's size, but that can be forgiven considering how much this pedal improves everything. It's super simple to operate, just two controls on top, just set how much compression you want, and then set the gain level to where you want it. There isn't an enormous amount of compression, don't get me wrong, there's plenty if you turn the dial up, but it never goes as far as sounding like a compression 'effect' it just cleanly and quietly controls the dynamics and really brings your bass (or guitar) to life. My personal favourite setting is the Multi Band mode, which coupled with the tube colouring on my H&K Quantum gives a really clean, fat and punchy sound. I use the comp at about 3/4 and the gain just a little over half way for most things. Once it's set I don't really turn it off. It's always hard to describe just how a compressor effects your sound, indeed when the pedal arrived my girlfriend asked me to explain what it does, after I explained and she gave me a blank expression, I played with the pedal on, then switched it off, it instantly became clear, and makes you realise just what you're missing out on. It seems to bring other pedals to life too, especially chorus and other modulation pedals, it seems to make them sparkle that little bit more if you put them before the comp in your pedal chain. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that it doesn't go all the way up to a really 'squashy' level of compression. But if you want a really nice compressor that works great for slap, fingerstyle picking or anything else you might want then this is definately worth trying.
